Why Grow Heirloom Tomatoes

heirloom tomatoMost of you know that our farming practices include growing and planting Open Pollinated Seeds, not the hybrids that are used today. Heirloom Tomatoes are grown from OP seeds and have come to us from generations of folks that cared enough to save these gems of nutrition. Most tomatoes found in supermarkets and restaurants today are hybrids grown to withstand shipping and shelf life, not taste or nutrition. But mostly it’s the principle that matters to us with seeds in general. We believe that Nature Knows Best, and that conversely, seeds produced in labs and that are Genetically Modified have not been time-tested for long-term consequences. OP Tomatoes are natural, taste better and are more nutrient-dense than their “just pretty on the outside cousins.”
